World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items can be used to increase the stats of an item. Based on item upgrader of upgrade it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. The value is the sum of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader you choose and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.
It can also be used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used to determine a gating condition when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is limited to a lower level). The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can evaluate the item level. It's a measure of the item's damage and its quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor is possible using the item level.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are a few theories about how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in sockets boost the value of the item. This can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is typically close to Blizzard's real item level.
It's not the only factor that influences the value of an item. item upgrading of the area where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste or crit score. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher value.
Item Stats
The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.
Upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.
Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could do things like give the item additional damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.
Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circles arrows. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.
Players can upgrade an item by specific stats or reroll attaches. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are an item that is unique or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another thing that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or deciding which stats to increase. Like base equipment, it must be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly beneficial for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
Luck can also increase the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each item level and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck or to increase the luck of the item to 140.
Furthermore, certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be found in the shops or made using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item in the event that it fails.
The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limits to how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..
item upgrades of an item can also affect the success of an upgrade. All items have an overall success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
